God Did It!!!

Image
Top 40 under 40 To be recognized as "Top 40" by the Grand Rapids Business Journal for the third time in four years is humbling. I am speechless. Just goes to show how faithful God is. How good God is and how he will use the least qualified to do the most. I am humbled. I am thankful.  As a young man who has always been overlooked, counted out, doubted and shunned, I truly believe God is simply making a statement. He is making a statement to the world. Daily I strive to be a living and walking Billboard for the Kingdom. He desired all along to make my name great. I simply desire to show the world how good God is. With each achievement, I will continue to give God the praise and the honor. Its not me…its Him. God Did It!!!

Chris spent his childhood in prisons, the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) visiting his older brother and knew early on he would not end up their despite what the media and data suggested when it came to young, black inner-city kids. Image
Chamillionaire, former rapper turned tech giant With all due respect, Chamillionaire never has to record another song, make a rap or listen to music ever again for the rest of his life.  No, it’s not due to ringtones either. Can we say… SILICON VALLEY, CALIFORNIA?  Just the location, alone, you see what I’m getting at, right? Although Hakeem “Chamillionaire” Seriki has chosen to keep his “urban” look and rapper image, he’s gone “tech.” And trust, his money is longer than every rapper in the industry. Why??? Because of Investments !!! According to Chamillionaire, at his office in Silicon Valley, all kinds of people come through to talk to him — from “scientists, Ivy League graduates, people who have brilliant ideas and ‘people who are just winging it’,” says the known rapper. Where are they now… Sure, it has been years since Chamillionaire has had a hit song. Probably the last worldwide song people knew was “Ridin’.” Remember? Well, at ...

Chance the Rapper Says His Apple Music Deal Was Worth $500,000 In a rare public disclosure of closed-door music industry dealings with one of the biggest companies in the world, Chance the Rapper said on Friday that he was paid half a million dollars by Apple to host his digital mixtape,  “Coloring Book,”  exclusively on its streaming service for two weeks last year. The rapper, who has long flaunted his independence from the record label system and his decision to not charge for music, said his burst of financial transparency was because of some critics’ questioning the veracity of his do-it-yourself ethos. “I feel like if I didn’t clear it up people would keep trying to discredit all the work we did to make Coloring Book what it became,” Chance, who won three Grammy Awards for the project in February, wrote on Twitter on Friday. “I think artist can gain a lot from the streaming wars as long as they remain in control of their own product.” He added that in add...

It Cost More to House Inmates Than To Attend Harvard University

Image
The Cost To House An Inmate In California Prisons Has Doubled Since 2005 The  Los Angeles Times  just dropped some whopping statistics when it comes to California’s overcrowded prison population. They report that it costs $75,500 on average to house each individual prisoner. That’s $2000 more than it cost to attend Harvard University! These numbers are increasing every year, despite efforts to decrease the California prison population. But, why? This cost is double what it used to cost tax payers back in 2005. And in 2015, the cost reflected per inmate was about $10,000 less. The Times says that the surge in costs comes from excessive overcrowding. Salaries for more prison guards have driven up the statistics, providing one guard for every two inmates. Efforts to decrease the inmate population, like early release have cut down prisoners by a quarter according to te report, now they need to most likely get rid of some of those salaries. Welp!
